Lim Chong Memorial Chess Championship 2012

Lim Chong (1954-2010) made vast contributions to Malaysian chess through his writings as a journalist and as an active player and member of chess teams and associations. An avidly-read columnist, many savoured his long-running weekly Chessmate in the Malay Mail, and up till his demise, Chess Overboard for the DATCC blog. Publicising chess events at a time when newspapers were averse to non-physical sports, especially those with a seemingly limited audience, Lim Chong stayed ever steadfast and true to his love for this Game of Gentlemen. For his invaluable services and passion towards chess, we salute him.
